We run a small flock of mostly Poll Dorset sheep. This breed is used because they can lamb all year round and they are easy to handle. We currently lamb in November but are considering a change. Our lamb is very popular and there is quite often a list of customers wanting some before they are born!
Our sheep only have supplementary food whilst inside for lambing, which is a couple of weeks. The lambs stay with their mothers until they are ready, and have the run of the farm over winter.
Our beef is unique in that it is kept on milk all of its life. This produces a tasty, tender nutritious meat. All of our beef is bred on the farm, the animals eat grass and silage, milk and some of our home grown oats.
In the future we hope to cure some of the meat for pastrami.
Our cows are a mix of breeds , mostly Shorthorn in a variety of colours.
Jimmy is the main man at the moment. He is a Beef Shorthorn.
